OUR REVIEW
A small hotel, modern and neat, with presentable
rooms, right in the centre of Athens. We found the location ideal:
just off Syntagma square (for the Metro and other transportation to
the airport, port and everywhere else in Athens), steps from shops on
Ermou street and very close - 2 minute walk - to the
beginning of Plaka (the historic, "old town" of Athens, with its
quaint streets, houses and tavernas).
An excellent base, with adequate comfort for a short
stop-over in Athens. From here you can walk to most sights: the
Acropolis, Monastiraki, Thission, the Roman Agora and the Temple of
Zeus. (See hotel location on map)
Rooms and bathrooms have been refurbished recently,
they are comfortable, functional and quiet, if small. There are 45 twin/double
rooms and 1 suite.
Most rooms have views to the streets below & to some common
looking buildings. Some rooms have view to the uncovered well between
buildings.
One of the twin rooms has an Acropolis view (through
big windows and a balcony-ette). This is first come, first served, so
send your enquiry early!
Even better, choose the double suite, on the top floor. It is
private (you are the sole occupant of this penthouse floor, accessed
by staircase from the floor below) and spacious, with a huge
balcony/terrace, with almost the whole of Athens at your feet. Views
to the Acropolis, the Cathedral, the Observatory and Lycabettus.
Breakfast room ("standard" buffet breakfast).

THE ROOMS
Air conditioning/heating (individually controlled),
mini-bar, satellite TV (& pay TV), telephone (direct line), ISDN
internet access, voice mail, safe box (laptop size), double glazed
windows, bathrooms with shower or bathtub, hairdryer.
Rooms are most with twin beds (few with double), and most have a couple of chairs and a
coffee table or small writing desk. Suitcase stand.
Upper Acropolis view twin room has view to the Acropolis through
big windows (& small balcony).
Lower Acropolis view (below) also has a view to the Acropolis.
Suite (2 people max), this is on the top floor - there are stairs from the
floor below. Has
large terrace with views all around: to the Acropolis, the
Observatory, the Cathedral, Lycabettus and Athens. There is view to
the Acropolis also from the window in the sitting area and from the
bathroom window (!).
DISTANCES
150 m from Syntagma square & the Parliament, 100 m from the Cathedral
square. 50 m from Ermou street (shopping). 600 m from Acropolis
entrance.
Athens airport - 35 km (55 minutes by metro), Pireas port - 15 km (15-20 minutes
by metro).
Parking in the area would be difficult (unless you pay for private
parking in one of the garages around). You are advised not to have a
car, and make the most of the central location that allows you to go
almost everywhere on foot. If you overdo it and have "too far to walk
back" taxis are cheap.
