The friendliness of a home and the style and decor of
a private club. Hera Hotel is on the south side of the Acropolis, in
less than 2 minutes on foot you will be strolling around the newly
pedestrianized walking circle around the Acropolis (see hotel location on map).
Lobby lovely high ceiling and spacious, interesting and decorative, brass
& wood, smart yet small and intimate.
Fabulous roof garden "Peacock" restaurant/bar partly enclosed (open
properly during weather seasons, but
with the addition of heating it is to be open in winter as
well).
Breakfast is served in a cleverly
designed atrium which has green plants on a lattice fence surrounding
the part-of-an-octagon windows and lots of light to wake the day. The
buffet is fresh, filling and excellent. Great staff are helpful and
friendly but not imposing.
The bedrooms are stylish, comfortable and smart. Selected rooms (4th
floor) and
all suites have a good view to the Acropolis from their balconies.
Plenty of clothes hanging space, drawers, soft warm carpeting, cool
air-conditioning, coffee table, armchairs. There is a useful electric kettle
for a quick cup of coffee or tea. Bathrooms are smart
and highly usable, marble with glass screened showers and/or bathtub. If
news beyond the Agora, the Pantheon or Athens area is needed, ADSL
internet access is online for all rooms.
The new Acropolis museum, currently under construction is a 2 minute
slow walk away, the Metro station of the same name 2.5 minutes and
within 3 minutes you are strolling along the tree and green grass
covered hilly lining of the new pedestrian walkway that
circumnavigates the Acropolis with many opportunities to enter the
Acropolis grounds, passing the entrance and past outdoor/indoor cafes
where coffee and cakes or more savoury fare mix your senses with the
view of the ancient monuments Walk on round to Monastiraki, the flea
market, long stretch of stalls and shops selling trinkets, leather,
ouzo and carpets, shoes and bags, jewelry and jackets -- on to Plaka
and its fine old houses and villagey feel (the most
village-within-city- like part of Athens with of course,
more cafes and more eating places).
You can also eat or sip coffee at one of several local restaurants
within a handful of steps. Though you might cut through Plaka and
walk to Ermou to shop, work up an appetite and dine there.
But, what
are we saying, are you in Athens to shop? Well maybe...and if you plan
to see the Acropolis then you are set. This is the right location to
enjoy that fascinating and mind boggling edifice.

SuperbGreece.com guest experiences of Hera Hotel[Click here to SHOW/HIDE]
The location of the Hera Hotel was perfect. The room was tiny (as
forewarned) and the cost was more than I ever paid for a room
anywhere else, but we loved it.

Being able to sit on the balcony
with a beer and watch the lights on the Parthenon turned on was worth
it.

Hotel was great thanks and we had a lovely view. The recommendations and help Roger gave us before we went were very useful and he was very helpful and forthcoming with information, so thank you.

We were, in general, very pleased with everything we booked through you. Here are specific comments:
Hera Hotel: Great location, very friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast buffet, comfortable room, but the bed was very hard (I understand this is typical in Greece, but that didn't make it any more comfortable).
I just want to thank you again, for how wonderfully helpful you've been.
Best wishes,
Athur Naiman
