OUR REVIEW
On the Monastiraki edge of Athens' centre
(see
hotel location on map) - in a
cluttered, rambling, commercial but increasingly fashionable and
trend-setting area, a vital pocket - yet steps from the pedestrianized ring around the
Acropolis and near Thissio, is the smart and lushly modern designer-seasoned,
small and intimate haven that is Ochre & Brown Hotel.
From the first steps you take on the brash and lively Athens streets,
perhaps after your first glimpse of the Acropolis, you walk into your
hotel and you feel a sense of style, offered with an uncompromising
atmosphere of quality, personal and privileged...this is how you
feel as one of the few valued guests at this small hotel with just 11
rooms.
As the centre of Athens is concentrated in a mostly walkable (much of
it pedestrianized) area we would not suggest a car is of great
benefit. But if you bring a car Ochre & Brown offers private parking which
is free to hotel guests.
As befits your selection of a true boutique hotel, a concierge will
help with any aspect of your Athens visit. When in a hurry, or the
opposite - lingering in warm comfort, room service is available for
you. Should your success at seeing the sights or making visits, or
even shopping in Athens have tensed an otherwise serene state, order a
massage in your room.
Card-key room entry reassures you and as you enter your private room a
sense of refined style, comfort and relaxations pampers you - chairs
to relax, a writing table, all facilities you might need, even work
can be easy - a private telephone number is there for your room only,
with voicemail you personalize to leave a message of your choice in
your voice (your Athens home base becomes even more like a home you
would choose to have if you were to live here).
When it comes time for a rest, a nap or the night's hour pulls you
towards sleep, the bathroom will already have been re-stocked
while you were out with the luxury toiletries, the luxurious hefty
cotton sheets and a comfortable bed await. Down comforters/duvets and
pillows. Quality double glazing
reduces most city sounds to a whoosh or sway. But perhaps before
slumber, a movie (in the suite a flat screen TV makes for richer
entertainment viewing).
Bedrooms have Corits furniture which will excite some (more important
- it has style and comfort).
Bathrooms are well-lit and have glass-screened shower cabinet, large shower heads that
produce the sensation of a warm rain rather than the dribble becoming
popular at more miserly hotels, fashioned Corian sinks, luxury
toiletries, magnifying mirror.
The restaurant at Ochre and Brown is small, intimate, welcoming and
already successful and popular (ask us to book your table ahead of
time) with fine cuisine well-served in a dining area that is chic,
modern and at the same time both lush and relaxed.
The cafe bar area is always there to meet, pause,
refresh or to enjoy the right tot.
10 rooms and 1 Junior suite.
Non smoking rooms are available.
Air conditioning, heating, double glazing, flat screen LCD TV with
cable and satellite reception, stereo with CD-player, DVD-player,
private phone line with personal voicemail, high speed wireless
internet access (with a fee), laptop-size safe, mini-bar, bathroom
with shower cabin, hair dryer, bathrobes and slippers.
