Athens’ National Museum of Contemporary Art Ready for Action in 2018

The National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST) located in the heart of Athens will be fully operational next year, its director Katerina Koskina told a press conference last week.

Construction on the former 1950s brewery to transform it into an 18,142m2 museum space started some 11 years ago. The legal procedures however have still not been completed, resulting in its losing a significant grant by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) and being unable to open fully to the public....

Acropolis Monuments Enter New Phase of Restoration

Monuments at the Acropolis in Athens will undergo a new series of restoration works set to create additional jobs.

Budgeted at 5 million euros, the “Restoration and Conservation of the Acropolis Monuments” is being funded by the NSRF’s “Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation 2014-2020” program and will include the recruitment of additional staff which will work together with the Acropolis Restoration Service (YSMA).

Athens is among the world’s top 50 cities attracting millennials, according to a survey released on Wednesday by online housing platform Nestpick.

The Berlin-based aggregator platform studied thousands of cities based on 16 criteria including housing score, tolerance to immigration, equality and nightlife, ranking the top 100 cities for millennials to live or visit. Lights Out in Athens Airport for Earth Hour 2016

For the eighth year in a row, Athens International Airport (AIA) joins the WWF’s global initiative “Earth Hour” on Saturday, March 19.

The airport will switch off the lighting of its western runway system (03L/21R), interrupting its operation for one hour, between 20:30 – 21:30 (local time).

At the same time, during “Earth Hour 2016”, lighting in the airport buildings, staff parking lots and other selected airport areas will be reduced.
